Welcome to District 16 for the 2011-2012 year. I want you to feel the excitement I feel for what we will be accomplishing this year. You ask, "What is that?" Every member in a Toastmasters club is both student and teacher. Through the Toastmaster program, we all learn from our experiences in the club environment. In the club, we mentor and serve as evaluators to foster individual achievement. The words we use to build the skills of our fellow club members - the attitudes we display when the club meetings start - the warmth and inviting tone we set for every event - sets the stage for our individual and our club success. Last year 2010-2011, District 16 achieved success and was presented the Distinguished District award. Many - 40% - of our clubs achieved Distinguished Club status or higher! Clubs awards and District recognition are connected! Successful members bring successful clubs. Successful clubs yield successful Areas and Divisions. Those achievements are measured by Toastmasters International and add to the Districts score and help us be recognized as a Distinguished District. That is our goal this 2011-2012 year. Those activities will bring the results we all desire - personal growth that is palpable. Growth that is seen and recognized! I'm privileged to be the Lt. Gov. for Education and Training for 2011-2012 and will work with you to help you succeed.
