Toastmasters Speech Contests
Speech contests are a Toastmasters tradition. In 2024, District 16 will hold the International Speech and Table Topics contests in the Spring term. Current contest dates are:
- February 10 from 10am – 12pm: Area O1 and O2
- February 17 from 10am – 1pm: Area K1 and K3
- February 17 from 9am – 11pm: Area O3 and O4
- February 17 from 11:30am – 1:30pm: Area U2 and U3
- February 21 from 11:30- 1:30 Area U1
- February 24 from 10am – 1pm: Area L1, L2, L3
- February 24 from 10am – 1pm: Area T1, T2, T3
- March 2 from 10am – 1pm: Division T and U
- March 9 from 10am – 1pm: Division L
- March 16 from 1:30-4pm Division K

Competition begins with club contests in January, and winners continue competing through the Area (February), Division (March) and District (April 19 and 20, 2024). Winners of the District level International Speech Contest proceed to the region quarterfinal level.
Following region quarterfinals, winners advance to the semifinals for a chance to take part in the World Championship of Public Speaking®.
